Beskrivelse
The events of 7 October changed the face of the Middle East forever. In this book, the author explains what happened and why – in a series of evocative vignettes that capture the events of that day – their background and aftermath, from the point of view of all involved: Hamas fighters, IDF soldiers, hostages and civilians on both sides of the conflict. With unprecedented access to politicians, intelligence officials, soldiers, militants and civilians, the author draws from interviews, official documents and his own experiences to answer difficult but important questions: How and why did Hamas plan the attacks? Why was Israel caught by surprise? Why did so many Israelis die on the day? Why were so many Palestinians killed during the subsequent campaign? Each chapter provides a different perspective – a stand-alone narrative that contributes to a story that is greater than the sum of its parts: both personal and of profound historical dimension.
