Beskrivelse
Acknowledging ongoing Bonhoeffer reflections and interpretations, and receiving and introducing Bonhoeffer into the West African context in which his works and legacy have been largely neglected, Being A Disciple in a World Come of Age serves as an introduction and orientation to first-time readers of Bonhoeffer. Written in conversation with the theology of Dietrich Bonhoeffer on discipleship and his legacy, this volume addresses the problem of Christian identity from a West African context.Musa further takes Bonhoeffer seriously in the context of post-apartheid South Africa, in which he studied under scholars passionate about reading and interpreting the life and works of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Just as in Germany, where Bonhoeffer arose as a Christian resistance voice and figure, so in South Africa he was used as a key scholar and example that helped the South African people to overcome the apartheid regime and help to give shape to the meaning of Christianity. The first book on Bonhoeffer from a Nigerian context, Being A Disciple in a World Come of Age is a useful guide to know how best to address present-day religious and political challenges and provide better ecumenical modelling in Nigeria, South Africa and beyond.
